Valentines? Bah humbug ...

My Scrooge status is obviously well known ... Husband called to say that his mum had rang him to remind him to buy his lovely wife some flowers ... (gotta love the mother-in-law!) so he dashed down to the local florists, saw a beautiful bunch of 12 roses in full bloom with a bit of greenery and thought perfect ... he then tells me that he saw the price, and decided I would kill him if he spent £60 on flowers and so told the lady in the shop that he was going to see his bank manager to take out a loan! When he told me I agreed completely and said "well that's ok ... at least you got me a big box of chocolates didn't you?" ... "Oh shit" he replies .. now I can't talk .... didn't even get him a card so I was in no position to complain.

Anyhow got home to find that he'd been winding me up ... he had bought me TWO big boxes of chocolates!! The man knows the way to my heart!!

Last day at work ... again

It seems like only yesterday that I returned to work after being on maternity for a year ... and now after having successfully applied for a secondment position, I am leaving. I'm not going far ... still based locally ... just in the opposite direction! I've been told it's a challenging job (others have tried and not succeeded / left) but I figure I need something to stretch me right now ... and I certainly am not turning my nose up at the extra money!

Bought a load of cakes and chocolates for everyone to share at work and bless, one of the guys came to me and asked what the occasion was .. when I told him I was leaving .. he stared at my stomach and screeched "What again!?!?"

Scrooges Extreme Makeover

Decided to do a Trinny & Susannah on myself ... so left Zoo at the grandparents, dusted off my wallet and went to Brent Cross. Got there before the shops opened!! Walked around the mall for ten minutes, took a deep breath and dived in. They would have been proud of me ... stuck to the colours and shapes that suited me ... if they felt less than 150% perfect I put them back. After managing to buy two suits, two shirts, a coat and two camisoles I got brave and sauntered into one of those shops that I hadn't been to since I was a twenty something. And I was pleasantly surprised and left with a blouse and a dress.

I was so proud of my accomplicements that I boasted to Dad and Vertigo. Told them what I had bought and asked them how much I had spent. Dad came back with a ridiculous £75. Come on Dad .. this is Brent Cross not Oxfam!! Vertigo pipped in with £100. When I looked at her with amazement and told her the real price £230, which I was personally impressed with, (I mean Trinny & Susannah normally have £2k to spend on their victims!), she replied ... "yeah ... but you didn't ask me how much I thought they cost, you asked how much I think you spent!!" She does have a point .. my middle name could be Ebenezer!!

Anyhow ... fresh from my success with my wardrobe decided to give the old blog the works too. Now think I need to find a funky new title for my blog. Any ideas??
